Jana-Nudi was initiated three years ago by a small group called Abhimata. This group Abhimata consists of similar thinking young political beings hailing from coastal Karnataka which apart from being known for its high educational rate and industries has been deeply troubled because of increased communalisation and because of the violence of the so called development.
One of the finest minds and our conscience keeper Devanooru Mahadeva is inaugurating this year's Jana Nudi. Five sessions, apart from the inaugural session and valedictory sessions, spread across five days will have eminent speakers, writers, social workers, intellectuals and poets like Dr. Rahamat Tarikere, Dinesh Aminmattu, Kadidaalu Shamanna, Banu Mushtak, D. Umapathi, Peer Bhaasha, B.T. Jahnavi, Muzaffar Assadi, K. Shareefa, H.V. Vasu, T.K. Dayananda, K.S. Vimala and more.
As a response to such occurrences which has been shaking the lives and the fabrics of the society, specifically in coastal Karnataka and all over Karnataka the need for cultural activism was felt deeply by the members of Abhimata to not just counter the anti-life developments in coastal Karnataka but also to make a new world possible through art and the creation of an alternative cultural space. It was this urge which pushed Abhimata to conceive an annual literary festival like Jana-Nudi which longs to not remain just as an event but transform into a movement, a literary cultural movement which responds to the needs of people's lives.
On behalf of the organizers I must say that Abhimata would appreciate any financial assistance from all those who share the values of Jana-Nudi. Arrangements will be made by Abhimata to ensure that receipt reaches you.
