In this interview, the IPS officer who's name has become synonymous with turning the searchlight on partisan behaviour within India's police, speaks about the need to make the IAS officer (District Magistrate) of a district and the IPS officer (Superintendant of Police, Commissioner) responsible for any sustained outrbeak and continuance of communal, anti-minority violence.
In this interview with Newsclick and Communalism Combat, he addresses the dangers to Indian security agencie sposed by the current RSS-driven regime that adheres to a worldview that is un-Constityutional while saying clearly that the dangers of radical, political Islam cannot be countered by Hindutva. Only can be countered by Indian secularism wedded to equality and non-discrimination. Teesta Setalvad, co-editor Communalism Combat, conducted the interview.
