Film Festival, JNU: When the Camera Speaks

Date:
November 19, 2016 to November 20, 2016
Dear all,

The current political climate has been witness to increasing assaults on people’s movements all over the world. The civil war like situation in the subcontinent, Kashmir, the North-East and Central India forces us to look at the world in a different light. In the last century, the camera has played a crucial role by bearing witness to the struggles of people against the State, the war-mongering arms industry and the rapacious greed of the corporations. To bring these perspectives together and to direct our gaze at the historical changes around us, Matidari: Forum for People’s Right to Land, Life and Dignity is organizing a two-day film festival ‘When the Camera Speaks’ on the 19th and 20th of November 2016 from 10 AM to 8 PM at the Auditorium in the School of Arts and Aesthetics, Jawaharlal Nehru University. The films screened will be followed by discussions by panelists including filmmakers, photographers, writers, poets, intellectuals and activists from all over the country.
