बीएसएनएल के 65,000 टॉवर रिलायंस को सौंपने की तैयारी! केंद्र के इशारे पर बीएसएनएल की जीवनरेखा समाप्त करने में जुटा संचार मंत्रालय।

Almost 10 years ago ‘Bidesh Sanchar Nigam Limited’(BSNL) was split into two part, BSNL(Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd) and MTNL(Maharashtra Telecom Nigam Ltd ). After splitting MTNL was given to TATA about a decade ago. Now the current government is planning to give BSNL’s 65,000 towers to Reliance Jio; this time the decision has been taken by the Telecom ministry.

The Modi Government through its Telecom ministry has planned to make a subsidy company for 65,000 BSNL towers and hand it over to Reliance Jio. In furtherance of this plan, the Telicom ministry has sent a note to the BSNL management. This note has 'ordered', the BSNL Management to separate BSNL from the BSNL towers and create a Subsidiary Company for all 65,000 BSNL towers.

This note has created great unrest in the organisation and every executive level personel is unhappy with the decision of government. BSNL has almost 14 workers union across India and it has one centralised union called Forum of BSNL unions and association. This Forum has expressed anguish and has decided to protest over this decision of government: already a nationwide protest was held on  December 15.

The Madhya Pradesh Division of the Bhopal BSNL employee union has also announced its decision to  go on a strike. Few of the employees have also announced that they will stage a protest under the banner of the union/organisation in front of multiple BSNL offices.

According to earlier report  published in July 2015,  BSNL chairman confirmed the company is looking to start a subsidy within BSNL to maintain its towers.
“We already share our towers with private players. We are looking at a subsidiary company within the company. We want more focus on tower sharing. The business is small now — just Rs 200 crore. But the potential is Rs.2,000-2,500 crore annually,” Shrivastava told IANS in an interview. ”BSNL will hold majority stake in the new company. A cabinet note has already been moved.”
